HR Generalist
Location: Fraser, MI (100% in‑person)

Fraser Eye is a comprehensive vision care practice committed to maintaining eye health and improving vision for patients in Metro Detroit. We have provided high-quality care and personalized treatment in Southeastern and Northeastern Michigan for over 40 years. Our team of eye doctors includes highly experienced ophthalmologists, optometrists, and board-certified eye surgeons who specialize in a full spectrum of eye care specialties.
About the Role
The HR Generalist is a hands-on role responsible for supporting the full employee lifecycle across our multilocation medical practice. You will partner closely with the Chief HRO, department leaders, and the C‑suite to manage recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, payroll, compliance, and HR operations. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, analytical, tech savvy, and confident in navigating a fast paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead recruiting and onboarding, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, offer letters, background checks, and new hire orientation.
- Manage employee relations and lead conflict resolution, managing evaluations, tracking performance data, and processing corrective actions or terminations.
- Administer benefits and coordinate open enrollment, administer FMLA and leaves of absence, maintain CTO/CME, and track required licenses and credentials.
- Maintain timekeeping data, track bonuses and stipends, process holiday/CTO pay, and review payroll inputs before submitting to accounting.
- Maintain HRIS/Paycor data, ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws, manage personnel files, Employee Handbook, and process unemployment and garnishments.
- Support HR operations by providing analytical insights, recommending process improvements, and understanding the difference between a CMS licensed facility requirements vs. private practice.
- Travel to other Fraser Eye locations as needed while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and effective communication.

- A well-rounded HR professional with strong communication skills and a balanced, people-first approach.
- Detail oriented, analytical, and tech savvy with the ability to analyze and recommend process improvements.
- Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive employee issues with professionalism and confidentiality.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- SHRM or PHR certification is a plus.
