Role Description: The Structural Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. The person in this role will perform structural analysis and calculations for industrial and commercial door systems, frames, supports, and related components to ensure safety, durability, and code compliance. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing project specifications, developing structural designs, creating and updating CAD models and drawings, and collaborating with manufacturing and installation teams to resolve technical issues. The Structural Engineer will prepare technical documentation, support product improvements, and assist with inspections, testing, and troubleshooting in the field as needed. This role works closely with project managers, sales, and clients to translate requirements into practical, cost-effective structural solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Structural Engineering and Civil Engineering, with a solid understanding of building codes and industry standards.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Structural Analysis and Calculations to evaluate loads, stresses, and performance of door systems and supporting structures.
  • Candidates should possess proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for creating and modifying drawings, models, and detailed fabrication documents. 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field required. A Certified PE (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with industrial or commercial building components, preferably doors, frames, or similar structural assemblies.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, construction documents, and engineering reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in an on-site environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordination with internal teams and external partners.
  • Familiarity with relevant design and analysis software tools and basic knowledge of manufacturing processes is beneficial.
