Clinical Lab Supervisor (Blood Bank)

Ann Arbor, MI, USA Hybrid Full Time

Duties: Conduct blood typing and antibody screening. Conduct antibody identification and perform adsorptions and elutions within the Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL). Collect and study blood samples to determine their blood group, blood type, or compatibility for transfusion purposes, using microscopic techniques. Analyze samples. Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results. Enter data from analysis of medical tests or clinical results into computer for storage. Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment. Operate, calibrate, or maintain equipment used in quantitative or qualitative analysis. Establish and monitor quality assurance programs or activities to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results. Supervise, train, and direct lab assistants, medical and clinical laboratory technicians or technologists, and other medical laboratory workers engaged in laboratory testing. Provide technical information about test results to physicians, family members, or researchers. Develop, standardize, evaluate, or modify procedures, techniques, or tests used in the analysis of specimens or in medical laboratory experiments. Position is based on 2nd shift and is part of the 24/7/365 Blood Bank team. Shift flexibility is required for the role based upon operational demands. Supervise 13 Med Tech and Clinical Tech Senior employees. Up to 10% remote work permitted.

Minimum Requirements: Requires Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution + 2 years of clinical laboratory experience in immunohematology. MLS(ASCP), BB(ASCP), or SBB(ASCP) certification required at the time of hire.
