Director, Tax Professional Services

The Director, Tax Professional Services serves as a hybrid strategic enablement role supporting tax practice transformation, technology enablement, coaching delivery, workshop facilitation, and the build and maintenance of the marketplace community across CPA.com’s Tax Professional Services initiatives.

This role bridges advisory transformation, operational execution, and applied technology enablement to help firms modernize and transform Tax practices. The individual will support firm leadership through coaching, strategic facilitation, technology guidance, workshop delivery, and development of scalable enablement resources aligned with CPA.com’s Tax Transformation Framework.

The ideal candidate combines tax operational experience with strong communication, facilitation, and technology acumen and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving advisory environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Tax Advisory Services (TAS) Practice Transformation & Coaching:

  • Support tax transformation engagements through coaching, facilitation, and implementation support aligned with CPA.com’s Tax Transformation Framework.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to help define TAS vision, mission, strategic priorities, and operating models.
  • Guide firms on TAS leading practices through decisions including:
    • Strategic direction and alignment
    • service delivery
    • workflow optimization
    • client experience
    • packaging and pricing
    • talent alignment
    • operational scalability
  • Assist firms in driving accountability and execution around strategic initiatives and transformation roadmaps.
  • Serve as an advisor and mentor to firm leaders and emerging Tax professionals.

Workshop Delivery, Conference Content/Thought Leadership & Firm Enablement:

  • Facilitate and support workshops, roundtables, training sessions, webinars, and onsite firm engagements.
  • Contribute to conference session curation and delivery of content.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of workshop materials, coaching tools, templates, playbooks, and enablement content.
  • Support delivery of leadership sessions focused on Tax growth, advisory development, change management, and technology adoption.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of CPA.com’s TAS curriculum, toolkits, and learning experiences.

Technology Enablement & Marketplace Support:

  • Act as a bridge between TAS strategy and practical technology adoption.
  • Support technology vetting, evaluation, and alignment of Tax-focused solutions within firm technology stacks as defined by CPA.com Marketplace Community.
  • Manage practitioner-centered engagement programs in CPA.com Marketplace Community, including
    • Peer communities
  • Technology forums
  • Roundtables
  • Working groups
  • Virtual and in-person events
  • Vendor/practitioner collaboration sessions
  • Assist with demo environments, webinars, and applied technology enablement efforts, particularly related to CPA.com strategic partner tax ecosystem.
  • Translate technology capabilities into practical advisory and operational use cases for firms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendor partners to ensure TAS Professional Services offerings remain current, scalable, and aligned with market trends.
  • Capture insights from firm engagements to inform future enablement resources and marketplace initiatives.
  • Support long-term growth of CPA.com Marketplace Community.

Change Management & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead firms through change management processes as part TAS PS offerings
  • Support development and execution of change management initiatives tied to TAS transformation programs.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and adaptability across firm engagements.
  • Stay current on TAS industry trends, advisory services evolution, AI enablement, and emerging technologies impacting the profession.
  • Maintain strong alignment with CPA.com’s strategic vision, partner initiatives, and TAS Professional Services goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in tax, advisory services, accounting technology, or firm transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working within a tax practice or supporting tax operations and enablement strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with modern tax technology ecosystems preferred.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into practical, actionable guidance.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, evolving environment with competing priorities.
  • Ability to travel approximately 35%.
