The focus of my professional life thus far has been teaching. I currently work at an all-girls private school in Bloomfield Hills, teaching everything from remedial Algebra 1 to AP Calculus; in the evenings you can find me tutoring high school students in mathematics; and in the summer I am proud to teach at my alma mater, the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, working with college freshmen on mathematics and also showing them where on campus you can get the best cookies. I’m a relentless problem-solver and strategic thinker, constantly working to engage my students in the classroom while teaching to state-mandated curriculums so that my school can maintain its reputation as an exceptional educational institution. I am well-versed in managing stakeholders, balancing expectations and communicating with not only students, but also parents, my fellow faculty members, and school administration. I use technology to make communication between students, parents, and myself simpler and more streamlined, as well as to assign tasks and distribute information. In addition to the softer skills that I have fine-tuned through teaching, I am a deeply analytical thinker with a passion for numbers. I graduated from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education with a specialization in Mathematics. While teaching full time, I went back to U of M to get my Masters of Science in Mathematics, and I proudly glued a (dollar store) calculator to my cap and bedazzled it at my graduation! While my primary job as been teaching, I’m a prolific multitasker and have always held at lead two to four jobs in addition. Lately, I have been tapping into my entrepreneurial spirit and working with my husband to open up a side business we’ve dreamed of for years. In the Spring of 2020, we’ll launch Donut Chaser, a family-run coffee and donut catering truck to Detroit-area car shows.
