Background

I am a writer and producer with experience in print, digital and broadcast media. For nearly two years now, I have been working as a producer at Fox 17 News in Grand Rapids, helping to put one of the local market’s top-rated morning news shows on the air. In that role, I have not only worked to get the news on the air each weekday morning but have also assisted in creating original content and in handling tasks such as writing/posting to the web and pushing news items out on social media. Prior to landing my role in television news, I worked for a handful of news organizations, including spending over two years as a reporter with MLive Media Group in various newsrooms across Michigan. I view journalism as a chance to tell stories that matter. Whether I’m covering a political rally, diving deep into a local government issue, or recounting an extraordinary event borne of seemingly-ordinary circumstances, weaving together a compelling narrative while leading with the facts is always my goal. This is because, in a world overloaded with information, in which people barely make it past headlines anymore, dynamic writing is more important than ever.
