Background

I am a passionate public health specialist with experience in health communications, motivational interviewing, project management, and survey design. I received my undergraduate degree in microbiology from Michigan State University (go green, sorry!), then went on to receive my master's degree in public health from the University of Michigan. I am also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). In my various positions, I suggested appropriate communication methods, synthesized complex health information into plain language, wrote and edited videos, drafted and programmed surveys, and created UX prototypes. I’ve written for various topics and communication channels, including culturally appropriate text messages for COVID-19 vaccine uptake, an online health communication training for clinicians, and a website designed to support people with chronic dizziness. I’ve also conducted usability studies to ensure that the websites we created were easy to use and the content was culturally appropriate. I enjoy learning new technology and am proficient in content management, learning management, design, and video production software. In my free time, I serve as the volunteer Director of Community Research and Development for an organization focused on providing medical access to people in Haiti. I also work as a freelance video director for Michigan Sports Television. These activities bring me great enjoyment and also help strengthen my skills in problem-solving, project management, verbal communication, and leadership.
